I had a great time last night at Chop Suey. The laptop battle was an awesome sight to behold. I've had trouble getting into the electronic laptop beats in the past, but last night I genuinely enjoyed the music.
But then I got tired. You see, I'm not so good at staying awake when I'm tired and I had been getting up early for my job (which I no longer have) as it was. Sleepiness struck me at around 1:00AM (Sometimes I stay up all night for no reason, so I don't wanna hear it). And there's this big red couchy-bench thing on the far wall that no one was occupying and I just sort of laid back, put my leg up, and passed out (I did this at a performance of Les Miserables in Paris too). It couldn't have been more than ten minutes later when I was abruptly awakened by a flashlight in my eyes, which was held by a big, burly, bulky, black guy demanding that I "Wake the fuck up."
So I did. And it was time to catch the bus and the winner was being announced. Kris Moon captured the top spot, but I don't remember which performances were him. And it doesn't matter because it was all really great, so if he won, he must have been off the charts. I'll be lookin' out for him the next time around at the Deep Down Lounge or wherever (check out dates and places at FourthCity).
You know something is good when it makes you want to do it. This applies to hobbies as well as other people.
